We bring Belarusian children (typically aged from 7 to 12 years old) away from the contaminated environment in their own country. to West Lothian,  This is to detoxify their immune systems, to give them a break from their often desperate domestic conditions and to allow us to provide any further support with health problems (normally through dental and optical checks, but also any further medical help if required).

We provide “a month of love and care” for each one of our children during their visits to Scotland. To do this the key elements of our programme are to provide;

* A good home with a loving and caring family
* Clean healthy air and surroundings
* Healthy food (and lot’s of it)
* Dental, optical and medical help when needed
* Schooling and further education to learn lots more about our country and way of life
* Lots and lots of fun activities!

The children arrive with only the clothes they are wearing and go home with a full suitcase of clothes. toys vitamins, medicines and essentials that we take for granted

During their month's stay the children live with a host family who provide a friendly stable environment, nourishing food and lots of love and care. Our host families can vary from single parent through to retired couples who have caught a second wind, the key being that they are able to provide the love and care that our children deserve. A key element of our support is that host families invite the same child to return to them for between 3 and 5 years, building a very special relationship with their child.

During their visits we establish a "school" with a full programme of educational, health and lots of fun activities. The school runs from Mon - Fri (normally 8.15am - 5.30pm) throughout their visit, allowing the host families to continue with their normal working lives.

When the children go home they are healthier, more confident and full of enthusiasm about the wonderful experiences they have just enjoyed. They return to their normal lives knowing that they have a special Scottish family who care for them. They all look forward to their return trips and delight in sharing their experiences with their families and friends. Their suitcases are filled to bursting with warm clothes, shoes, toiletries, vitamin pills and other items to help them and their siblings.

The hosting of a child is an incredibly emotional and rewarding experience for the entire family, and often forges ties beyond the month’s visit each year. The benefits are usually clear to see over the length of the programme, not only in improvements in the childs health, but also in their domestic circumstances back in Belarus and in their confidence and outlook on the world.

We also support our children and their families through an annual visit to see them in Belarus. The Charity Co-ordinator would be happy to talk with any host parents who might be interested in joining this trip.

The co-ordinator can be seen here visiting a child in the city of Mogilev, where the children tend to live in a block of flats (seen to the left) or a wooden house (seen to the right)

Finally, we are happy to assist with organising private visits to Scotland for children who have completed the 3 to 5 year programme such that the bonds that you have built with your child can be continued for many years to come.
